Brick Game: Who's who in WWIII
So with Israel threatening Iran, Iran has to, for honours sake, continue as they were. America & the UK are in love with Israel, China & Russia hating the western influence in the middle easy, I'm predicting WWIIII.
What country takes what side in WWIII?
('Tis only a game, not to be taken 100% seriously [though you're welcome to turn into some actual discussion])

My opinion:
Allied Allaince
  1. USA
  2. UK
  3. Israel
  4. MAYBE France
  5. MAYBE Iraq

Other Side
  1. Russia
  2. China
  3. Most of the Middle East
  4. MAYBE Germany

How about you?

RE: Game: Who's who in WWIII
imo, russia would rather team up with USA than go with China and the Islamic countries. China is slowly becoming too big of a threat for everyone, and Russia doesn't hate the US as much nowadays.

A possible start of a ww3 is Iran and Israel going in a war, USA and UK getting on the side of Israel, and most of the Islamic countries united with Iran. However, the Islamic countries wouldn't be too big of a problem, unless Pakistan uses nukes, in which case both them and Israel get turned into a glass.

Of course, there are other possible scenarios, but this seems like the most probable one to me. But I don't think any of the strongest countries (such as russia, usa, china, etc. etc.) would attack each other directly. There's a lose-lose situation for any of them. Worst thing that could happen between them is fighting on different sides by supporting different sides in a war of other countries, but never in full force. Most wars nowadays are just to sell weapons on a greater scale.

I don't know, I think Russia is rather mad at the US, too mad to join. We've been trying to police their actions in the middle east, like warning against their weapons and secrets to Iran, Iraq, and Syria. China is a threat for sure though, I see your point there. Without Mongolia as a border between them I'd defiantly agree with you, but I think Russia would rather have China as a loving neighbor than a vengeful one.

Then again, I am not good at geopolitics. But I do think the USA will actively help Israel in any war, and if Russia or China does join, it's cold war -- but for how long? I mean eventually someone is going to go WWI style and do something stupid bringing in the big countries.

Of course, but it's usually initiated by the most desperate of the big countries. I mean, a world war is inevitable at some point, but when and how we can only guess. Inevitable because when the middle eastern countries run out of oil, they won't be able to survive for long. And because China will grow and grow and the rest of the world will simply get in too much dept from them, they'd be able to play around with the world economy the way Microsoft did with the software industry in the 90s. Eventually a military strong country like with crashed economy "might" have no other escape of the situation than war. And finding a "public motive" for the outbreak of war is always easy.

You have a point there, who knows how soon, and if it's not something soon it is inevitably that.

RE: Game: Who's who in WWIII
I don't think people realize how closely tied China is with the US. the US would be able to severely cripple the Chinese economy by placing an embargo on all goods imported from there. Even if it weren't for this business, we owe China trillions of dollars, they would not dare fight us, at least until they get paid. Indeed, many of the greatest powers in the world are tied together economically so closely, that I think it collapsing could be the cause of a new World War. I really don't know how it could pan out as far as sides :/

RE: Game: Who's who in WWIII
I'll go ahead and say if we went to war with china, we would win outright no problem. I have the stats if you wanna see them, but it's no question.

On the subject of Russia, haven't our relations with Russia been better the past year and a half? Maybe I'm just behind, but I doubt Russia would team up with China on something on this.

And Germany would not be against the Allied Nations. It wouldn't happen, they would be on our side.

Ultimately Israel would win the war. Israel + US + UK = nearly unstoppable in my opinion.

RE: Game: Who's who in WWIII
Crow's first post is in my understanding rather accurate. Big countries will at all cost avoid and watch the rest burn and will try not to fall for pressure and alliances. The only chance as Crow says it, for big countries to get involved in opposing sides is via proxy wars, fighting through other countries and not receiving the damage.

1. Israel, USA, UK, FN.
2. Iran, Middle-east, N.Africa.

China and Russia might (unwillingly) get dragged in based on pressure, protecting economical trading partners and former promise of protection etc..

Ultimately, economical (and all other forms of) globalism is preventing wars, unlike the situation during WWII, which is why I think world wars are unlikely at this point in time.
